Hiwi the Kiwi Visit

Yesterday at 9:30 the team 5 block went to the hall.There was a special event for the school.When we got there,there was a lady and a man on the stage they were singing a song while we were walking in.When we were all settled in he stopped singing.He started introducing himself and his wife.they told us what their manes,what school they went to ,what their favourite thing to do in a life time,shared stories from where they came from and how the other schools are different from how they sing and they taught us a song and it goes like this
Kai Moana

Well Hiwi and his mate said “Wouldn’t it be great If we all go fishing with the guys We’ll catch a snapper for the cooler But don’t forget the ruler To check if the snapper’s under size that’s wise”

If the snapper is too wee it will never grow to be A mummy or a daddy who can breed We’ll be sure to let him go So he’s got a chance to grow We can always catch his uncle for a feed

Well Hiwi went to school and said “Wouldn’t it be cool If every Kiwi kid knew how to catch a
kai All you need’s a hook and line And a sinker would be fine And some yummy bait a fish would like to try”

So if you want to catch some grub kids, join a fishing club Coz there’s lots of fun for every girl and boy Here’s some really cool advice Don’t forget to take some ice Keep your kai moana nice and enjoy – Yum!

If you’re fishing from a boat and you want to keep afloat Teach some water safety lessons to your dad Say “wear a life jacket, don’t forget to pack it If you wind up in the water you’ll be glad” Did you let the family know where the boat is going to go And the time that you expect you will return Take great care and a beacon and a flare Kids you could save a life if you learn about...

We sang the song and did some actions.
We learnt heaps of stuff and I only remember:
To always wear a life jacket while being on a boat
If its a sea water fish then don't wash your hands with fresh water wash it with sea water.

Silicon Valley Talk

Saia and Gabe came back from their trip and showed the year 7 and 8 students a little movie of what they did and where they went,They also took snapshots of what they where doing like,when they where looking at the light cause it was shinny and it had light that was blinking.They also showed us photos of the company they where at they told us what was there favourite places he went to I wont tell you cause I don't remember what there favourite places where but they did visit heaps of famous places like: Facebook,Khan Academy,Stanford University,Yelp,Microsoft ,Google ,Alcatraz ,Ideo ,Instagram , Kiwi landing pad ,Twitter ,Apple ,Xero ,America .At some places they took photos where mostly outside the front of their buildings,They took photos with company's.They also made new friends there and took photos with them.

T.I.I.C Planning Sleeping Sleuths

Introduction:Why is it important to sleep?

Topic 1 - What happens to our bodies when we sleep?
When we sleep for a long time our brain works properly,but when we don’t sleep for a long time then our brain don’t work and we will be very very grumpy to help you stay awake you need to take a warm shower,turn off all electronics and t.v,do something relaxing and reading,drawing in bed.So when we sleep we always dream.


Topic 2 - How much sleep do kids need?
Children usually has to have about 8 or 10 hour sleep so that your brain can work wisely and properly also so that you don’t forget things before something serious happens and you will be very confused of what is happening,it’s happening because you are tired that's why you get enough sleep for your health and for you eyes.


Conclusion:  
you have to go sleep at a certain time and if you go sleep late your brain will not work properly and it will refuse to do what you want it to.
